This week in Drawing Club, our learners have been discovering Diwali, the festival of lights, exploring the vocabulary light, joy, celebration and togetherness. Their new knowledge has sparked wonderful conversations and inspired their drawings and writing, creating meaningful opportunities to put their phonics learning into practice. Alongside exploring the sounds v, w, x and y, the children have been practising the tricky words and, has, his and her, using these to help bring their ideas to life in words and sentences. It has been lovely to see their growing confidence as they share their thoughts and celebrate the different traditions and experiences that make every member of our Nadeen Wolf Pack special.
This week in Maths, we have been focusing on circles and triangles!
Linking our learning to Diwali, the children created their own rangoli patterns in their maths books and explored making patterns using different loose parts.
They also coloured in circles, triangles and squares before carefully cutting along dotted lines, developing their fine motor skills and scissor control!
Throughout the week, we encouraged the children to use mathematical vocabulary such as sides, corners, straight, curved and patterns to describe and compare shapes, as well as identify and continue repeating patterns!
This week, we have been learning all about Diwali, the Festival of Light. We have enjoyed reading stories and talking about some of the special traditions and celebrations that take place during Diwali.
The children created their own Rangoli patterns using clay, seeds and beans, carefully arranging the materials to make colourful designs. We also learnt about the beautiful lights, diyas and firework displays that are often part of Diwali celebrations.
It has been a lovely opportunity to learn about a different celebration while exploring pattern, creativity and the world around us.
This week, the children have been very busy creating their own volcanoes!
Using scrap paper, glue and flour, they worked together to build their papier-mâché volcanoes, leaving them to dry before painting them with brown, black and red paint.
Once they were ready, it was time for the exciting part, making them erupt! The children added dish soap, white vinegar and baking soda to create their very own volcanic eruptions!
Throughout the week, we have also been exploring books and watching short educational videos to learn more about volcanoes and how eruptions happen.
The children have been so invested in this project from start to finish, asking lots of questions, making predictions and showing so much excitement as their volcanoes finally erupted!
As part of the school uniform, all children in FS2, Year 1 and Year 2 require a school book bag. Please begin sending these in clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Once book bags are in school, children will bring home reading books, communication logs and helpful resources to support their phonics learning at home.
Children should bring their book bags to school each day to support in school and at home learning.
A few helpful tips to support snack time:
Pack fruit in a small, separate container to help your child manage their snack independently.
Please cut grapes lengthways, as whole grapes can be a choking hazard for children under five.
Practise good eating habits at home, including sitting while eating and independently opening and closing lunch containers.
A gentle reminder that Nadeen School has a no nut policy. Please do not send nuts or products containing nuts to school.
From building and shaping 3D sculptures to learning printmaking techniques, colour mixing, layering, composition and mixed-media art, children will be introduced to a new artistic skill each day — then put it into practice by creating their own finished pieces.
This isn’t just about making something pretty. It’s about learning how to work with different materials, experiment with techniques, solve creative problems and develop their own artistic style.

This October, we are proud to support A Box of Goodness as they celebrate 10 wonderful years of spreading kindness and giving back to our community.

Pre-loved Clothing: Gently used clothing for adults and children, particularly winter essentials such as jackets, jumpers, hoodies and blankets.
Dry & Canned Goods: Rice, pasta, lentils, flour, sugar, cooking oil, canned beans, tuna and other non-perishable food items.
Please ensure all clothing is clean and in good condition, and that food items are unopened and within their expiry dates.
