Relate how you experienced the discussions and interaction with peers on Discussion Forum
The Discussion Forum was a great way to interact with my peers, especially relating to work and dealing with many different teachings and concepts.
It gave insight on topics in greater detail from everyone's personal views, opinions and facts.
It was a convenient way of receiving information with added in depth descriptions and examples.
Did you learn anything?
Yes and no.
Yes because my peers touched on and discussed information relating many topics within our modules and courses. They gave their own understandings and broke down information to help others fully understand and made learning much more easier and relatable.
No as well, because some learners did not really discuss the work and expand on their knowledge but but copied and pasted information from powerpoints or from other students discussion forums.
Did you share advice with others?
Yes. When asked to discuss certain topics, we interact with one another by replying to each others views.
We give our own views, we add on to each others information and we agree or disagree in areas (respectfully).
When a class member is lead astray, or is confused. The class kindly intervenes and corrects them.
Do you think Discussion Forums can play an important role in online teaching and learning?
Yes I do. Discussion Forums is a useful tool to help learners discuss work being taught, especially given the fact that it is online.
Since it is online, learners will not be able to attend classes in real time, so discussing work/assignments/concepts, etc. with the help of learners they stay in tuned with what is going on inside of the classroom.
It plays an important role in teaching and learning as the class can openly talk about work, and if they're feeling lost they can always ask questions and go back to previously discussed work when needed.
It also keeps work in one place if students need to go back to study or go over work.
Teachers can use this as an aid with learning as well, to test the learners understanding and knowledge on given lessons, projects, etc.
It can be used as a great way to receive feedback.
