Counselors are out of office for summer! Check our Summer 2026 page for FAQ's
Please see the Athlete Confirmation Form attached. Carefully read both pages to ensure the process is completed properly.
This form is NOT due until Registration/Fall once the student is officially on a sports team roster.
Notes:
Students are responsible for contacting their TUSD home high school to express interest in joining a sports team and confirm a roster spot with the coach and school administrator.
Complete the LMA Athletics Confirmation Form with all required signatures.
Please note: The athletics process has been updated this year (26-27). Be sure to read the instructions on page 1 of the form carefully before completing and submitting it.
Submit the completed form to your home high school (where you will be playing).
Attach a printout of your Aeries Demographics page (Student Info → Demographics).
Once processed, your sport will appear in Aeries → Classes, and attendance will be recorded.
Physical copies of the form are available in the Front Office.
While LMA does not offer CIF sanctioned sports, students in grades 9th-12th have the option to try out for athletics at their home high school (Beckman, Foothill, Tustin HS). Cheer and Dance may be included depending on the high school structure of these activities - see your counselor for details. Marching Band is not included.
It is required that students play their sport at their home high school (per CIF).
Students who reside within the boundaries of LMA will have the opportunity to try out for athletics at Tustin HS.
Students attending LMA who have transferred into TUSD from another school district will have the opportunity to try out for athletics at Tustin HS.
It is up to the student and parents to look into sports options, reach out to coaches, and communicate final decisions with the LMA counselors for scheduling purposes.
Notes:
9th & 10th graders have PE requirements mandated by California Ed. Code. Athletics does not count as PE credits.
Counselors will review PE credits for graduation and plan accordingly with each student.
Counselors cannot adjust your schedule for Athletics or add your sport until your Athletic Confirmation Form is processed.
Once confirmed, we will will change your schedule to reflect enrollment in your sport and an athletic schedule allowing for early dismissal.
Once rostered onto a sport, athletes will be scheduled to leave campus at 1:45pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 1:55pm on Wednesdays to attend practice and games. Note that this may vary slightly due to minimum days, changes in schedule due to holidays, etc.
Transportation is not available. It will be up to the student to make up any work missed due to an early game. Students are also expected to communicate to all teachers and/or IVC professors if missing a class.
Ryon Tanara (AP) oversees the ISPE process. Please contact him directly for forms.
