*Emailed copies will not be accepted and will delay the athletic enrollment process due to high volume of emails.

Is it common that students will not be officially confirmed on their sports teams until the following school year, in August. This is normal and we will adjust schedules as we receive confirmation from coaches via this form.
BHS / FHS: Please drop off at the Front Office for signatures . It will be returned to you at practice by your coach.
THS: Please provide this form directly to your coach and Athletic Director/ Administrator
We cannot adjust schedules & provide sticker on ID for students to leave early until this form is received completed, processed, and student schedule is adjusted to allow for Early Dismissal.
As page 1 indicates, this will take a minimum of 24-48 hours as LMA works with the other high schools during the busy enrollment period.
Physical copies of the form are available in the Front Office.
Please contact our Counseling Tech, Ms. Cabrales, with questions regarding your athletic status: wcabrales@tustin.k12.ca.us
Review the Form & Policy Below:
While LMA does not offer CIF sanctioned sports, students in grades 9th-12th have the option to try out for athletics at their home high school (Beckman, Foothill, Tustin HS). Cheer and Dance may be included depending on the high school structure of these activities - see your counselor for details. Marching Band is not included.
It is required that students play their sport at their home high school (per CIF).
Students who reside within the boundaries of LMA will have the opportunity to try out for athletics at Tustin HS.
Students attending LMA who have transferred into TUSD from another school district will have the opportunity to try out for athletics at Tustin HS.
It is up to the student and parents to look into sports options, reach out to coaches, and communicate final decisions with the LMA counselors for scheduling purposes.
(Rising 9th/10th Graders, please review PE Requirements in section below.)
1) All continuing and potential athletes MUST share their intent to play a sport with their counselor prior to the start of the Fall Semester so that counselors can schedule the student accordingly for the following school year.
This includes students interested in a Spring semester sport, as LMA must schedule accordingly to minimize impact to your schedule.
You can still inform us that you'd like to be an athlete later in the year, however, there is no guarantee that your schedule can be arranged to accommodate an athletic schedule
2) Students are responsible for reaching out directly to their TUSD home school and completing the necessary steps them to join their desired sports team.
3) Once a student successfully joins a team, LMA Counselors need to receive confirmation from the coach directly that they are officially on the roster.
This process is completed with required communication from the student directly to their coach. They will bring the "Athletic Confirmation Form" to them and receive their signature. This can be completed over the summer/into the Fall.
Student will turn in the form directly to the Front Office.
LMA Counselors, Front Office Staff, and their TUSD High School's Counseling Department will work together to formally enroll the student in their sport, update their schedule to reflect "Athlete," and provide permissions for the student to leave at the Athletic Dismissal time.
Please keep in mind that this process can take time due to the multiple parties involved; please plan ahead and be patient while we work to update all athlete schedules.
Notes:
9th & 10th graders have PE requirements mandated by California Ed. Code that may impact an athlete's ability to leave campus early (more information below).
Counselors cannot adjust your schedule for Athletics or add your sport until we receive your form that includes signature from the coach that you are on their roster.
Once confirmed, we will will change your schedule to reflect enrollment in your sport and an athletic schedule allowing for early dismissal. Until we receive your form with coach signature, confirming that you are confirmed on their roster, your schedule will reflect period 7 PE as a placeholder. This can be completed over the summer/into the Fall.
Once rostered onto a sport, athletes will be scheduled to leave campus at 1:45pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 1:55pm on Wednesdays to attend practice and games. Note that this may vary slightly due to minimum days, changes in schedule due to holidays, etc.
Transportation is not available. It will be up to the student to make up any work missed due to an early game. Students are also expected to communicate to all teachers and/or IVC professors if missing a class.
Before adjusting athletic student schedules, Counselors must review the student's graduation required PE credits/California Ed. Code requirements.
9th Grade:
As required by California Education Code, all 9th-grade students must be enrolled in PE Course 1 during their freshman year. Please note that participation in sports no longer fulfills the PE credit requirement (communicated via TUSD during 23-24 school year).
If you are a current 8th grader planning to play a sport in 9th grade and wish to qualify for athletic dismissal (early release for sports practice), you must complete an online PE course during the summer before starting 9th grade.
Students who do not complete PE over the summer will have PE included in their regular school schedule, as mandated by the state, and will not be eligible for early dismissal.
Details about summer school opportunities are typically shared with schools in March. Be sure to plan ahead to meet these requirements or your schedule will not be adjusted for athletic early out.
10th Grade
All 10th-grade students are required to complete PE Course 2. Please note that participation in sports no longer fulfills the PE credit requirement (communicated via TUSD during 23-24 school year).
If you are a current 9th grader planning to play a sport in 10th grade and wish to qualify for athletic dismissal (early release for sports practice), you must complete an online PE Course 2 during the summer before starting 10th grade.
Details about summer school opportunities are typically shared in March.
For all grade levels, counselors must review PE requirements for graduation. After review, we can determine appropriate next steps for schedule adjustments.
