Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an educational framework aimed at creating flexible learning environments that can accommodate individual learning differences
The goal of UDL is to give all students an equal opportunity to succeed by removing potential barriers to learning and providing multiple ways to engage with their learning environment and materials.
UDL is based on three main principles
Engagement: Finding ways to motivate learners and sustain their interest. This can include offering choices, making assignments relevant to their lives, and creating opportunities for movement.
Representation: Presenting information in various formats, such as text, audio, video, and hands-on activities, to cater to different learning preferences.
Action and Expression: Allowing learners to demonstrate their knowledge in different ways, such as through tests, oral reports, videos, or group projects.
UDL benefits all learners, including those with disabilities and students for whom English may be an additional language.
