There are a number of flexible spaces at both City and Riverside campuses that allow for different types of learning. Considering the role of space in creating the best conditions to encourage students to feel the confidence to contribute is a key aspect of designing engaging and inclusive learning opportunities.
The Learning Technology team will happily support colleagues to explore using some of our campus spaces (including the Virtual Learning Lab (VLL) and Active Learning Classrooms (VLC)) for interactive learning.
The Virtual Learning Lab (VLL), situated on level 3 of the library at City campus (capacity of 24), is a great space for hosting blended meetings, workshops and sessions, and round table discussions. The VLL is available for booking here. The VLL is equipped to support staff development.
There are three active learning classrooms available for use, located at both City and Riverside campuses. These rooms are intended to be used for active and connected classroom learning, supporting digitally-enabled group work and hybrid teaching.
The rooms contain: A touchscreen presenter display, 3 student screens for collaborative working, 2 webcams (one presenter-facing and one classroom-facing), a directional microphone and speaker bar.
The rooms are C.03.098, C.03.099 and R.01.014. Each has a capacity of 24 and can be booked via timetambling for Riverside Campus please email Fiona Prior. The LTA will provide technical and pedagogical support in using the spaces effectively
