ABC is a method of designing a course, unit, or other program of study with a focus on pedagogy. It is a collaborative process that can be completed within one and a half hours.
ABC enables curriculum teams to rapidly develop a storyboard visualising the learner journey based on their activities through the course of study. The method builds on participants’ existing practice and can be used to identify opportunities for active, integrated, blended learning, to review assessment and feedback and align the course or unit to wider institutional priorities.
The ABC Learning Design Model is made up of 6 different learning types which can be used in a variety of ways to create balanced and active engagement in learning.
Take a look to see what activities could fit into each different type - both conventional activities or those which have a digital focus.
College staff can access a dedicated Canvas course to help with applying ABC to their course design, and to help scaffold the blend of online and on-campus content and activities as well as how to use Canvas as a hub for learning and teaching resources and activities.
