Make-up artistry has many paths. You can specialise in TV, film and Theatre, collaborate in Fashion runway and photoshoots or maybe you would love to get involved in customer facing roles on a counter or developing your own clientele for occasions or weddings. There are two main routes you can take whilst completing these roles and they are Freelance or a Fixed term Contract.
Freelance is a desirable route as you become your own business and brand. This allows you to develop your own style and reputation rather than being attached to a brand. It also gives for flexibility in hours and rates. It is important to remember that you are running your own business and responsible for pay, holidays etc. You will also need to work on building your business and contacts. It is important to develop a business plan if this is your chosen route.
Alternatively you can work for a brand which is a great way to begin as you learn the industry and different business strategies.
