The Spa sector is a thriving business, both within the UK and also abroad and many Complementary Therapists are keen to explore employment within this field, particularly on first graduating. There are excellent opportunities within Scotland as well as the rest of the UK and overseas. Spa therapists will often gain excellent in house training, expanding their knowledge and skills and may progress to roles within Spa management or Spa directorships.
Many of our graduates prefer to pursue a career as self employed therapists providing a range of therapies. Many of these therapists will also have contracts with bigger organisations to supply treatments - for example to specific workforces or for particular events such as conferences, festivals and workshops.
The opportunities for self employment, new business start up grants and funding for new business ideas is increasing and many Complementary Therapists are becoming entrepreneurs within the sector.
Many recently graduated students will opt to gain employment within the cruise liner industry. Companies such as Steiner and Olsen will offer excellent opportunities to travel the world while working and developing further spa skills.
Many of our students progress to employment in health care settings such as
GP surgeries
NHS and Private Hospital care
Hospice/palliative care
Charitable health care settings such as -Marie Curie, MacMillan Cancer Support
We have excellent links within these sectors, and students also benefit from completing placements during their time at college - here are some examples of where students have gained a placement and this should also be a good indicator of future employers.
