We are so excited for you to be joining us at LBHS this coming August!
In preparation for the start of your high school career, we first Pre-Register you for your core courses and invite you to explore and select your elective classes. No class placements are ever guaranteed, but our School Counselors work throughout the spring and summer to ensure all 2900+ of our students get schedules that put them on a path to earn their diploma and be ready for life beyond high school.
In March, you will be invited to make selections for Enrichment/Elective classes. At the same time, we will be pulling your Semester 1 academic and assessment performance data to Pre-Register you for your core classes.
Pre-Registration – The English, Math, and Science class you are Pre-Registered for based on your performance in Semester 1 of this year and assessment data from the Fall and last Spring
Please note:
All 9th Graders take Pre-AP English 1 Honors at LBHS
Pre-Registration is based on years of data-informed scheduling and an understanding of the rigors of the courses as they’re taught at LBHS
Pre-Registration is not set in stone – you will have the opportunity to request changes to what is Pre-Registered
Between now and March 24th, incoming 9th graders who are currently enrolled in SCPS can make their initial selections for the Enrichment/Elective classes for 2026-27. These will be combined with their Pre-Registered Courses and included in their Course Request Summary Reports. Those will be distributed to SCPS Middle Schools at the beginning of April. You will use these reports to view your course requests and discuss them with your family, teachers, and school counselor.
On Monday, April 27th, you will be able to view these course requests in Skyward and submit final change requests.
For more details on the entire scheduling process, check out Scheduling Process and Practices and the Scheduling Timeline.
For now, students are only making their initial selection of 4 Enrichment/Elective classes, as well as 3 Alternates. Here is the form!
Use this 9th Grade Enrichment/Elective Quick-Reference PDF for course codes. Please note that, because we are required to use State Course Short Descriptions, those Short Descriptions may not match exactly what you are requesting. The Quick Reference provides some clarity to this.
Please be sure to read the section titled "BEFORE YOU START MAKING COURSE REQUESTS" at the bottom of this page.
This Curriculum Guide has course descriptions and details about all of the Enrichment/Elective classes we are currently planning on offering in 2026-27:
Discuss specific academic and personal goals as a family.
Begin with the end in mind: What do you want May 2027 to look like?
What do you plan to have accomplished academically?
What do you plan on having participated in throughout the year, both on campus (arts, athletics, service) and off (employment, family commitments, religious or personal wellness activities)?
Review your Graduation Requirements to know exactly what is expected of you by the State of Florida and Seminole County Public Schools
Review this Curriculum Guide and see what courses will contribute to meeting those goals for May 2027.
Agree on some possible pathways that will lead to those goals:
Core Academic Courses that challenge you, but are manageable and will contribute to meeting your Graduation Requirements
Programs of Emphasis that provide unique opportunities for Lake Brantley High School students:
Special Support Programs, including Exceptional Student Education and English for Speakers of Other Languages
College Preparation Opportunities, including Pre-Advanced Placement, Advanced Placement Capstone Diploma, and Dual Enrollment
Elective courses and programs that will prepare you for life after high school
Submit Enrichment/Elective Course Requests March 24th.
Utilize the 9th Grade Enrichment/Elective Quick-Reference PDF for course codes.
Courses are not first-come, first-served. Schedules are processed through a randomized computer program.
All students must Pre-Register for a full 7-period schedule regardless of individual interests or circumstances. If approved for a Modified Schedule (rare for 9th graders), course requests will be removed from the Pre-Registration.
These are just requests for classes. Changes to course offerings due to student interest or federal/state/county policies often occur. Additionally, if 300 students request Cosmetology 1, but there are only 120 seats available throughout the day, 180 students will be scheduled into their Alternate.
Remember that the Pre-Registered classes are based on several years of tracking students matriculate from middle into high school. You can opt for a different Math or Science class than what is Pre-Registered after April 24th. All 9th Graders take Pre-AP English 1 Honors.
