In 2014 the state of Florida issued an ambitious, poorly funded mandate for the use of digital curriculum materials and computer-based testing. Most districts struggled to comply. PCPS created a BYOD plan to allow students to bring their own devices to help fill in the gaps.
Though the state mandate has softened since 2014, the BYOD model remains available for teachers to employ in their classrooms. Teachers must have the approval of their school admins to do this. They must also know that students using personal devices must be connected to district WiFi and be subject to the most restrictive filtering available. This page gives information and forms necessary to get started.
The instructional technology team of School Technology services also offers self-paced, online classes every 9weeks to help use the most common classroom tools. Registration is via netCONNECT, our professional learning scheduler. All courses are offered via Moodle, our learning management system. See our flyer on the right for more information and registration instructions.
For technical issues, your first line of support is your school's network manager.
