School Counselor are often the only individual in a school with an understanding of career theory, process and and training. Counselors are trained to address career development concerns across the life span. At the elementary level school counselors can help students create an awareness of different careers, expose students to the work of work , explore different careers and help students develop the soft skills that are needed to be successful in their career. Some soft skills would include but are not limited to: responsible, organized, strong work ethic, dependable, positive attitude, ability to get along with others, self motivated, honest, and effective communication skills.
