In my design, I used Pantone’s color of the year, Cloud Dancer (#F0EFEB), as the main background to create a calm and focused atmosphere. Cloud Dancer is a soft, billowy white, and I chose it to represent clarity, control, and mental discipline. Since my design is about overcoming self-imposed limits, I wanted the background to feel quiet and controlled rather than loud or distracting. This helps emphasize the mindset of staying composed under pressure. I kept Cloud Dancer dominant throughout the design so it would guide the overall tone, while using a gold accent to highlight key text without overpowering the composition.
This design reflects me because it connects directly to wrestling and the mental side of competition, which is something I’m passionate about. I got the quote from my dad because he always says this to me when I feel like I am giving up. Instead of using a cliché or overly motivational quote, I focused on the idea of self-imposed limits, which is something athletes deal with in real situations. I wanted the design to feel real and grounded, not exaggerated. My style as a designer leans toward clean, bold layouts with strong typography, and this piece reflects that through the use of simple colors, clear hierarchy, and a powerful central message. The wrestling image also makes the design personal because it represents effort, focus, and execution in the moment. I duotoned the image of me using the color black and the Pantone color of the year.
I applied visual hierarchy by making the word “LIMITS” larger and using a gold color to draw attention to it as the main focus. I used contrast between the black text and the light Cloud Dancer background to improve readability. I used a font that was called HORIZON. I also used balance and composition by placing the image at the bottom and aligning the text above it to guide the viewer’s eye downward into the action. The halftone dot texture was added at a low opacity to create depth and visual interest without distracting from the main subject. Overall, this project was hard to design but I guess it came out alright.
