Wentworth's Service-Learning Opportunities
Dear Collingwood Families,
Welcome to our new home-learning experience. Now, more than ever, we need to seek ways to support those most vulnerable in our local and global communities. Although we need to abide by the rules and practice social distancing there are various service-learning opportunities you can embrace as a family.

The Backpack Buddies collection was a huge success last week. Thank you to everyone who made a contribution. Hunger is still very real during this COVID-19 pandemic.
$1750 in gift cards was also collected for the Harvest Project.
Thank you Moretto Family for organizing the toiletries drive items.

Jonathan (4Mac) Helping Frontline Healthcare Workers
Fighting Covid 19
Bear (a.k.a. Jonathan, 4Mac) is trying to help Lions Gate Hospital by regularly supplying their front line doctors and nurses with healthy snacks and electrolyte drinks. He emptied out all his money and got his parents to help him. He made his first delivery on April 6th.
Bear was inspired by their family friend, Amar, who is an ER doctor. Amar told Bear that caregivers are working tirelessly fighting to save lives and don’t have time to get proper meals and hydration. Electrolytes very important as their hours are long and gruelling. Bear understands that the war against Covid 19 will be long so he is raising money to help fund his efforts.

David Suzuki Foundation - Nature Activities at Home
PLANT SEEDS OF CHANGE
Plant a pollinator patch and bring bees and butterflies back to your neighbourhood! Check out our Pollinators page to learn about planting native plants and other ways you can help attract pollinators unique to your area.
Please share to inspire others!
Inspire others by documenting your activities and sending them to Izzy@davidsuzuki.org. Pictures, drawings, videos and written work will encourage others in Canada to take action.
CREATE A GRATITUDE TREE
Bring nature inside. Write a love letter to nature and create a gratitude tree! Use sticky notes or construction paper and showcase them in a window for everyone to enjoy. Have your family or friends send you answers to the question, “What do you love most about nature?” For more inspiration, visit The Love Lettering Project.
PAINT WITH NATURE
Calling all young artists! Paint rocks with positive messages or images of love. Place the rocks around a favourite tree or park. Please make sure to use low- or no-VOC (volatile organic compound) paint if you are putting your rocks in nature so you don’t harm the environment.

Add salt, baking soda and liquid castile soap to a pail of hot water. Presto — a month’s worth of toxic-free laundry soap! It's cheaper than store-bought eco-friendly options and works just as well. Clean your clothes with only four ingredients, all safe enough to eat! Add 125 to 250 ml (½ to 1 cup) per load. Works in HE machines, too.
Plastic Grab Bag Challenge
Wentworth has been registered for this challenge! Please join the Grade 1's by creating a project of your own. Please share what you, your class and/or your family has done to participate in this challenge. Here is a link to some online resources. You can send your completed projects/videos to Ms. Johnson.
