Annual English Day
Annual English Day
On May 5th, our school came alive with the sounds of English as students across all grade levels came together for a fun and meaningful English Day celebration! From singing and chanting to reading and performing, every performance was a showcase of the students’ effort, creativity, and growing confidence in using English.
I had the joy and honor of training and preparing students from Grades 1 to 6 for their performances. Starting from the last week of March, we practiced regularly—improving pronunciation, rhythm, expression, and stage presence. The results were truly rewarding!
Training the students has been an amazing journey. I saw them grow not only in language skills but also in courage, teamwork, and self-expression. It wasn’t always easy, but they stayed committed and gave their best and I couldn’t be prouder of them.
🎉 Congratulations to all! You made English Day a celebration to remember!

Annual County-Wide English Group Reading Contest
After months of preparation, practice, and perseverance, Class 6B has achieved an outstanding milestone in the 114th Changhua County English Group Reading Competition—earning the “Excellent Work” award! Their dedication and teamwork truly paid off, and this success is well-deserved. For this year’s competition, Class 6B chose two engaging pieces: “All Aboard: Exploring Taiwan by Train” and “Flying High: Air Travel Across Taiwan.” Through these texts, students explored different ways of traveling across Taiwan while strengthening their English reading fluency, expression, and confidence on stage.
From the very beginning of training, the journey was filled with consistent practice and steady improvement. For more than a month, students worked hard on pronunciation, rhythm, tone, and expressive reading. Each rehearsal helped them grow not only as readers but also as confident speakers and supportive teammates. In the end, their final performance of “All Aboard: Exploring Taiwan by Train” stood out as a strong and confident presentation, showcasing their progress and teamwork.
This achievement reflects their commitment, effort, and passion for learning English. I am incredibly proud of Class 6B for their perseverance and growth throughout this journey.
Congratulations, Class 6B—you’ve shown that hard work, teamwork, and determination lead to excellence!

After more than a month of preparation, practice, and perseverance, 6A emerged as the winners in 113th Changhua County English Group Reading Competition and I couldn’t be prouder of their journey! Out of the 3 pieces, we choose Eating Locally and Taiwanese White Dolphin .
“Eating Locally”, which promotes sustainable food choices and environmental awareness
“The Taiwanese White Dolphin”, a touching reminder of the importance of protecting endangered species native to Taiwan
These texts weren’t just reading material — they were learning opportunities. I had the privilege of training and preparing this talented group of students—and what a journey it was! For over a month, we worked closely together to prepare for the big day. Our focus was not only on reading fluently but also on mastering pronunciation, rhythm, tone, and expression. Each practice session was filled with energy, learning, and teamwork. Seeing their transformation from hesitant readers to confident speakers was incredibly rewarding. And their hard work paid off—6A received the “Excellent Work” award!
This recognition is a reflection of their dedication, growth, and passion for learning. I’m so proud of how far they’ve come and grateful to have been part of their journey.
Congratulations again, 6A! You’ve proven that with effort, teamwork, and heart, great things are possible!

Annual Halloween Celebration
The Halloween excitement at began early with a memorable pre-celebration event on October 28th. Class 2B paid a special visit to Class 6C, presenting a lively performance of the song “Go Away”, complete with colorful costumes including a ghost, a cackling witch, a monstrous fiend, and a thirsty vampire. The 6th graders responded with a unique challenge: they rewarded the 2nd graders with cool, handmade Halloween pins but only if they could win a round of "paper, scissors, stone."
On the morning of October 31st, on the school grounds, the annual Halloween celebration officially kicked off. The youngest participants, 1st and 2nd graders, delighted everyone with an enthusiastic chant of the classic “Trick or Treat” rhyme. Meanwhile, the 3rd through 6th graders tested their agility and quick thinking in a Halloween-themed vocabulary game, performing spooky actions from the cards they picked. Those who did well were rewarded with tasty candy treats!
This year’s Halloween event was a resounding success, perfectly combining festive traditions, engaging games, and friendly peer interaction. Congratulations to all the students and teachers for making the 2025 celebration a fun, memorable, and wonderfully spooky occasion!
Originally scheduled for October 31st, the school-wide Halloween celebration was postponed to November 5th due to the effects of Typhoon Kong-rey. Despite the delay, the students’ excitement and enthusiasm remained high as they finally got the chance to celebrate the much-awaited event. Learners came to school wearing colorful costumes and proudly showcased their creative handmade hats, masks, and props. The campus was filled with laughter, joy, and Halloween spirit as everyone participated in the festive activities prepared by the teachers.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the English Trick-or-Treat challenge, where students confidently recited the rhyme, “Trick or Treat, give me something good to eat!” to their teachers. Their efforts and courage were rewarded with candies and sweet treats, making the activity both fun and educational. The celebration became a memorable experience for everyone, proving that not even a strong storm could stop the students from enjoying the Halloween festivities and expressing their creativity and school spirit.
Annual Thanksgiving Celebration
This school year, students from different grade levels took part in meaningful and creative activities to express gratitude. Grade 3 students worked together to create a large Thankful Turkey, with each student writing one feather about what they are thankful for. Grade 5 students made their own individual Thankful Turkeys, reflecting on their blessings through simple English writing and creative artwork.
Grade 6 students created beautiful Autumn Leaves showing deeper reflections of appreciation through both writing and design. These activities helped students practice English while learning the importance of thankfulness. C
Check out the video I made to celebrate this special Thanksgiving activity!
In honor of Thanksgiving, the Grade 5 and 6 students reflected on their blessings and wrote in English about what they are thankful for. These messages of gratitude were turned into feathers for their Thankful Turkey, which they carefully colored, cut, and assembled. Grade 6 students also created a Gratitude Wreath to express their appreciation in a creative way. The activity beautifully integrated English writing, creativity, and the value of thankfulness, making the celebration truly meaningful.

As a foreign English teacher in Taiwan, one of the best ways to connect language learning to real life is through everyday experiences—and what could be more everyday (and exciting!) than school lunch?
Last semester, I worked with my English Conversation Club students on a special project to help them learn more about the food they eat every day at school. We turned lunchtime into a language-learning adventure by making a video about Taiwanese school lunch called Tasty Tidbits Time and the students loved it!
This project reminded me that language learning can (and should!) be meaningful and fun. By connecting English to something students already experience like their daily meals, we make learning more engaging and memorable.
This past Christmas season, our youngest learners from Grades 1 and 2 brought smiles and festive cheer through a joyful Christmas caroling activity! With hearts full of excitement and voices ready to sing, they visited Grades 3 and 4, sharing the holiday spirit one song at a time.
I was so proud to see how confidently and cheerfully they performed. The older students were pleasantly surprised and clapped along and a few even joined in the singing!
Through this fun activity, students didn’t just sing—they also:
Practiced English vocabulary and sentence patterns
Learned about Christmas traditions
Built confidence in speaking in front of others
Experienced the joy of giving through song
It was a beautiful reminder that learning English can be joyful, musical, and full of meaning—especially during the holiday season.
Great job to our young carolers! Thank you for spreading smiles and music throughout the school. Let’s keep the spirit of kindness and joy all year round! 🎶🎄❤️
