Printmaking
Welcome to the website for Printmaking at Sheffield Hallam University, within Technical Operations, Resources and services (TORS). The workshop is located in the Head Post Office (HPO) Building, room 16/ level -2, on the Sheffield Hallam City Campus.
In the Printmaking workshop we support a wide range of creative techniques and subjects, with world class printmaking facilities and specialist technical support. You will need to have an induction to use each of the printmaking facilities.
On this website you'll find information about how to book an induction, techniques available, as well as support information to help remind students of how to use the facilities or processes in the area.
Printmaking Facilities
How do I access the facilities?
Before you can use the facilities in the Printmaking Workshop you will need to get an induction in the specific process you want to use.
An induction will help explain fundamental aspects of a process while also incorporating a hands on practical session where you will be shown how to use equipment, general health and safety and be given an orientation of the area.
There are two ways to get an induction:
Individual (book via email or in person)
Teaching (tutor led - see course tutor)
See below for more information.
Individual
Individual or small group inductions are available in Screen Print / Lino / Intaglio / Photo Etching / Embossing / Cyanotype and Letterpress
Students can either drop into the Printmaking workshop to book an induction or email the printmaking team for more info: acmprintmaking@shu.ac.uk
Teaching
Students can also have an induction as part of a timetabled session. This is where an induction is part of a taught session or module that is organised by your course or academic.
