Health and social care apprentices frequently encounter emotionally demanding situations, from safeguarding concerns to family distress. Linking reflective practice to wellbeing provides a structured way to process these experiences, reducing the risk of burnout and promoting emotional resilience. By acknowledging both challenges and successes, apprentices can build confidence, develop coping strategies, and maintain a compassionate approach. This aligns with the HCPC’s emphasis on self-awareness and emotional regulation as key components of safe, person-centred care.
Not feeling yourself? We've got you covered. Take a look at Sheffield Hallam's wellbeing tools, workshops and online resources, or register to speak to a wellbeing practitioner. Please see the links below to the universities support options as well as the course lecturers and your coach who are all here to help and support you through your apprenticeship.
Also, just a reminder that your workplace is also there to support you throughout your apprenticeship. Things won’t always go perfectly and that’s okay! If something’s not working or you’re feeling stuck, don’t hesitate to speak up and ask for help.
