When starting your course you will be assigned an Academic Adviser who will be responsible for supporting you throughout your course. An Academic Adviser can provide advice relating to your academic progress and performance, whilst also supporting you in reflecting on your own professional progress. You will meet your advisor in induction week and there will also be some bespoke sessions to help you understand more about the student support triangle at SHU, of which academic advising is one element.
SHU have a library at each campus, both open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The library's at SHU also offer a range of support services to students.
Develop skills for academic success through a programme of Workshops, small group Forums and online Resources.
During induction week, you will have the opportunity to find out more about these sessions from our dedicated librarians.
You can submit draft essays and extracts of your work online, and will receive comments, feedback and suggestions from an academic writing expert within 24 hours. This new service is available in addition to the study skills support offered as part of your course and by central skills services via the Bridge and the University English Scheme.
These pages will help you with citing and referencing. Most students at SHU will use APA. However, some courses will use other referencing styles.
