HOW TO FIND COURSES:
Find Course Descriptions: You can find course information at the following website: http://www.maryvillecollege.edu/academics/programs-of-study/
This section describes all the programs of study at Maryville College. Be aware that
many of our programs are made up of courses that are listed in other disciplines
(for example most of the international business and international studies courses come from a variety of degree areas).
not all classes offered in the course catalog are offered every year.
pay close attention to pre-requisite courses listed in the course descriptions. Some courses require you to have prior knowledge in a specific area before taking the course.
Watch out for Extra Fees:
Music courses have additional fees, require an audition, and require you to have your own instrument (except piano), and
Science lab classes
“Readings courses”
Courses in Education require special permission.
Contact your academic advisor or academic.advising@maryvillecollege.edu with any questions.
Look at the schedule of classes at http://www.maryvillecollege.edu/campus-life/registrar/course-schedules/
The classes on this list are the only ones offered in each semester.
These are the only courses offered in a given semester. We are a small school, and very few of our students take all courses in their major field of study in any semester. This is the US model of education. Students take courses from different areas in addition to their field of study.
Course Dates and Times:
M = Monday; T= Tuesday; W=Wednesday; R=Thursday; F=Friday
Most classes are 3 credits, meaning you meet 3 hours/week (usually MWF or TR or MW)
4 credit classes usually include a lab. (this is usually listed as a separate section with only one day.)

The Center for Global Engagement will review the courses you have listed for space availability and whether course pre-requisites are met, and Maryville College will pre-register you for classes for the semester or year.

Here are some useful sites for understanding our programs of study and courses:
Programs of Study: You can find descriptions of our different majors at: http://www.maryvillecollege.edu/academics/programs-of-study/
Under each major (or program of study) you can find a section called "Required Courses" You can click on each course code to get a course description.
Paradigms: Sample course sequences by program of study are available at https://www.maryvillecollege.edu/academics/resources/paradigms/
Course Schedule: You can find listings of classes offered this year at http://www.maryvillecollege.edu/campus-life/registrar/course-schedules/. The classes on this list are the only ones offered in each semester.
Maryville College Core Curriculum: Our core curriculum is made up of courses that all degree-seeking Maryville College students have in common. Some are required in specific years and others may be taken at any time in your degree. https://www.maryvillecollege.edu/academics/catalog/core-curriculum/
Academic Advisors: Each Maryville College student is assigned an Academic Advisor. You will be assigned an advisor prior to arrival. This person will assist students in designing their academic program, in selecting classes relevant to their course of study and in discussing any academic problems they may have. This person is an advisor only, which means that students still have the major responsibility for making their own decisions. An advisor will contact you in the summer, but you will finalize course selection and registration after you arrive. You will have an advising appointment during orientation.
If you have questions about your academic program, please email or call us with your questions.
