Getting Connected

The Center for Global Engagement is your point of contact to get connected to Maryville College before you arrive.  There are a few programs to help you get started at the college.  Be sure to stay in touch with us as you prepare for arrival.

Pre-Arrival WhatsApp Group

 Please join our WhatsApp group for new international students to Maryville College.  This is a group for new admitted international students to Maryville College. The Center for Global Engagement (also known by our location on campus - International House, or I-House) will use this group as our primary way to communication important information specific to international students prior to your arrival.

This is ALSO a place to connect with other new and returning students.

iMentor Program

The iMentor program connects new international students with returning US and international Maryville College students. Our main goal is cultural and conversation exchange; however, it is really about helping new international students as they prepare to arrive and in their initial adjustment to Maryville College.

New International Students: joining the iMentor program will give you an opportunity to:

* Adjust to and learn about Maryville College and life in the U.S.A. and East Tennessee.

* Share your own culture with local students.

* Develop language skills.

* Get involved with new activities, make new friends and have fun!

If you want to participate, we will match you with an iMentor for the fall semester. If you are interested, please fill out the application linked above by July 1st for the Fall and November 1st for the Spring semester

Global Connections

Maryville Global Connections is an organization of families who are interested in making and maintaining connections with Maryville College students from around the world. A “family” may consist of married or single adults, young or old, with or without children living at home. Frequency of contacts between a family and its student(s) will depend on the schedule and interests of both. Activities could include taking walks together, going shopping, eating out (or in), cooking traditional meals, playing board games, celebrating holidays and birthdays, attending sports or musical events, sharing special family times, and sightseeing in the area.

The benefits to you:

You will not live with the family!  This is a social host family program where you get to do fun things and be part of a family when you have time.

Bike Ministry

We have a local partnership that offers free bikes to international students.
