As an international student at MC, the U.S. health care and insurance system may be new to you. The informational resources and videos on this page should help you as begin to navigate health care at Maryville College and in the U.S.
We know that adjusting to a new place can be challenging. Maryville College gives enrolled students – residential and commuters – access to FREE 24/7 mental telehealth care, with no cost at the time of visit. Students are able to talk to licensed mental health providers from their smartphone or any web-enabled device. This service is not based on having a phone line but takes place via video chat througha web browser. Licensed providers are available to diagnose non-emergent medical conditions, prescribe medications and offer mental health support and wellness coaching via phone or secure video visits. There are options to speak with a therapist in a variety of languages.
**Effective Aug. 1, teletherapy at MC will be provided by UWill, a mental health and wellness provider focused on college students. Uwill offers students free immediate access to teletherapy, a direct crisis connection, and wellness programming through its online platform. Students should watch their campus email for more information - more information will be posted here as we hav it!
Maryville College wants every student to be successful in their journey to get their degree. As part of that path, students may feel they need additional support to deal with issues that may occur in their lives. The Counseling Center is dedicated in providing counseling services for students who need additional guidance in dealing with life transitions while attending college. Our goal is to provide you with a safe environment to discuss any difficulties and concerns you may have during this time. In addition to therapy and psychoeducation, our staff is available in crisis situations when needed. All services are confidential and free to students. Counseling services are provided by a licensed professional or a graduate student in training who is carefully supervised by a licensed clinical supervisor.
MC is pleased to announce a partnership with River Valley Health to provide healthcare and wellness services to students. River Valley Health (RVH) will offer both in-person (close to campus) and virtual services, as well as same-day and scheduled appointments. PLEASE NOTE: The Maryville College international student insurance plan changes as of January 9, 2024. Any illnesses or injuries that occurred before the new plan is effective will be considered pre-existing and therefore won't be covered during the first 12 months on the new plan.
