Overview 3:45 - 4:00
We started off the day at the Lake Borgne Storm Barrier. Where we learned about the way it protects the city as a floodwall.
We learned about the Flood Protection Authority East from Ricky Boyett, Chief Public Affairs USACE New Orleans, who taught us about flood risk challenges in southeast Louisiana. He highlighted way the USACE always takes the future of water into consideration when designing.
We took a quick look at the Broad Street Drainage Pump Station to learn about the way it drains the entire uptown New Orleans area. Bryant Dixon and Grace Vogel, Sr. City Planners along with the pump station manager taught us about water management in Nola through the use of water pumps.
