We did some design thinking today by doodling, brainstorming, and discussing the way water affects us and the rest of our planet. Honing in on the way it affects New Orleans specifically and the way it ties into what we learned on our trips to the Lake Borne Surge Barrier and the Broad Street Pump Station
Design Thinking Presentation by Daniela Marx
On our second day we did more design thinking by breaking down the question 'what is living with water?' We did this through throwing out different words and by word breaking processes like the banana split. By throwing out these words we were able to propose many more questions tying into the theme of living with water.
On our third day we did more design thinking by now coming up with solutions to our problem. Arising themes when discussing the problem with water in Nola was the lack of education and resources in our city. This brainstorming session introduced the ideas of creating a social media campaign or event to educate the public.
On our fourth day we narrowed down our question and solution through figuring out the 5 W's and 1 H of the problem. The who, what, when, where, why, and how. The narrowing of our solution of how to solve water in Nola was done through the creation of rubrics and evaluating the impact, feasibility, and viability.
On our final day we solidified our solutions to the water issues in New Orleans. The theme of water awareness and collaboration was seen throughout each groups solution. Their design skills were put to use through the creation of a logo, flyer, or presentation. Overall built upon through the design research and thinking done throughout the week.
