"Kindness Matters"

A Message From Middle School Principal Christopher Berger

Happy November, Crusader families!

Thursday, November 9th, is the last day of the first quarter. Please have your child check their schedule so they are aware of any potential upcoming changes for the second quarter, which will begin on Monday, November 13th.

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held virtually at the secondary level. Students have a half-day on Thursday, November 9th, to allow for afternoon conferences. Evening conferences will take place on Wednesday, November 29th. Parents will need to sign up for a virtual conference through the online pickAtime system. Please call the main office if you have any questions or need assistance.

As part of our Building Leadership Committee’s goals, we are trying to promote and bring awareness to digital citizenship and the importance of internet and social media safety. This video explains Digital Citizenship. In addition, Don’t Press Send has some great documentaries and resources available for parents. We encourage you to explore the blogs, articles, and documentaries that are listed on this page and to have conversations with your children about appropriate social media use.

As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership. We wish you a very happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the school break from November 22nd through November 26th with your friends and family.

Best wishes,

Christopher Berger

MWMS Principal

Red Ribbon Week was October, 23rd-31st!

At school, students engaged in activities that promote a drug free and healthy lifestyle. Each themed day the students and staff dressed differently; check out the photos below and see if you can guess each day's theme!

During the week, the students also pledged to live drug free. The PTA rounded off the week with a Halloween Recreation Activity for all to enjoy.

New Teacher Spotlight

Introducing .... Ms. Mary Galindez

Ms. Galindez is entering her fourth year of teaching, but she joined our Middle School family 3 years ago.  She is working with our 7th graders as part of our FACS team. She was previously a flight attendant for United Airlines for 16 years.

Mary loves to sew, especially quilts. She also loves to crochet; ask her about her blankets and dolls. Stop by her room to see what she's whipping up next!

HALLOWEEN AT MWMS!

NEWS AND NOTES

Library Corner

Ms. Lisa McKenzie's Grade 8 Health classes spent 7 consecutive days in the library on a collaborative research project.

Students used the library databases and researched different topics on the impact of Social Media as related to cyberbullying, anxiety, mental health, online predators, and how social media affects student academic success. Students then presented their findings in a Google Slide, practicing their public speaking skills in front of their peers.

Art Department

Ms. Angeloro's 8th grade art students have been studying color and value.  They had to create a composition containing objects from nature to include in their "faux stained glass window drawing."  They studied color families and learned how to blend and layer oil pastels.

Ms. Foster's 7th grade art students studied mixed media, using watercolor and ink. Since watercolor is a transparent medium, the darker ink easily shows through the paint.

musical notes

October 27 was the 34th Annual Faculty and Friends in Concert! MS faculty and staff members who performed were: Adam Conforti, Brian Clark, Maria Diaz, Michele George, Peter Giorgio, Jeanette Russell, Chris Taborsky, Ryan Walther, Danielle Agnello, Andrew Costa, Andrew Sciulara, and Heather Su.

If you weren't able to attend in-person, on-demand tickets are still being sold via the Music Boosters website HERE.

crusader council

The Student Council held their annual Sidewalk Chalk Event on October 24! Many of our middle school students came out and used their creative minds to design and decorate Fall themed murals on our front walkway. Snacks were served and a great time was had by all! Attached HERE is a  video of the fun!

athletics
