"Kindness Matters"

A Message From Middle School Principal Christopher Berger

Greetings, Crusader families!

This is an exciting time of year as we begin our winter concert series throughout the month of December, and our modified winter athletics are in full swing at the Middle School. Our students will be working in their advisories to show off their creativity in our annual door decorating contest for the upcoming winter and holiday season. We can’t wait to see the final products!

As a reminder, Tuesday, December 5, is a half-day for students. December 5 is also the District capital project vote. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Central Valley Elementary. We encourage our parents and community members to exercise your right to vote!

Thank you to the students and families who have participated in our District food drive by donating food for our community members in need. Your donations will truly make a difference. The deadline to donate pasta sauce and powdered milk has been extended until Friday, December 8.  Thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity!

As always, I want to thank you for your continued support and partnership. We wish you and your family a wonderful and peaceful holiday season and a happy and healthy New Year!

Best wishes,

Christopher Berger

MWMS  Is Getting In the Holiday Spirit!

New Teacher Spotlight

Introducing .... Ms. Bridget McSweeney

Ms. McSweeney has been teaching for over 20 years. Last year she was a pool aide, but now she is a full-time Physical Education teacher for 7th and 8th grade girls and boys.

She loves to exercise and cook, and she has three children in the Warwick school district. She is the lucky guardian of a black Labrador Retriever, and she recently welcomed a black Labradoodle to her family.

She is looking forward to the holiday season and some good hunker-down snow days!

NEWS AND NOTES

Library Corner

The Library held a Makerspace activity during all lunch periods the two days before Thanksgiving break.  Students were taught the art of hand-knitting and had the choice of learning to hand-knit a scarf or stocking.  These period 7 lunch students chose scarves and enjoyed the "mind quieting" and "relaxation" they experienced while creating something usable with their hands.  Word spread quickly, and there is now a waiting list for our next hand-knitting activity. Open to all! Stop down to the Library to get yourself a spot for the next one.

Art Department

Steven C. Martinez spent the day with Ms. Foster's 7th grade art students, answering questions about his field of tattoo artistry and how he uses social media in a positive way to network and grow his brand. Steven shared his journey of becoming an artist and how he achieves the goals he sets for himself. We appreciated the time he spent with us, as it was inspiring for the students.

Ms. Angeloro's 8th grade art students worked on a fun one-day project before Thanksgiving, inspired by the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade. They created a quick one-point perspective of New York City and then created a drawing of a balloon they hoped to see at the parade this year.
