Day One Schedule:

8:30 - 11:30: Teacher Professional Learning and Maker Co-Planning

  1. Intro and Agenda overview (tone-setting and goal-setting)
  2. What's your #hashtag?
  3. Morning Tools and Activities: What’s the Difference? Make to Learn and Learn to Make

4. First Morning Lesson Planning:

  • Introduction to Four-Question Planning Routine: “Not by Chance” how to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment through planning for Inspired Innovation maker work
  • Making Learning Personal and Meaningful: “Entering the Inspired Innovation Center Doors: How will making add learning value, access, and equity - not more “dumpster projects?” (use identified 7th grade standards to consider planning routine)
    • Curriculum: Introduction to Why Make? What Defines Making and How Making Joins and Crosses Your Curriculum, SEL, and Equity (Real Learning Examples)
    • Instruction: Introduction to Footholds and scaffolds -Teacher leaders will establish foothold activities to start using space, culture, pedagogies, and technologies as a construct of user interface and experience (Consider both Habits of Mind and Learner Maker Practices)
    • Assessment: Introduction to Beyond the Rubric Toolkit - Assessing MakerWork Tower Activity

11:30 - 12:00 Lunch with teachers, students & families

12:00 - 2:00 (MURSD staff will facilitate with assistance from Pam and Ira)

Hummingbird Design Challenge
  • 2:00 - 2:15: Clean up
  • 2:15 - 3:00: Teachers and Facilitators: Reflect, Recap, Reimagine - Exit questions, feedback, planning takeaways
