October Issue 10/22/2024
Flashback to September!
Two weeks ago, jrO-MUN concluded its first September Debate, and we are more than impressed! We ended the two sessions of debate with 53 speeches, 44 points of information, and 11 amendments passed, done in less than 6 hours! We thank every delegate for their eager participation, and hope that the experience was invigorating and constructive, particularly for our newer members! We applaud you for finding the courage to take the first step and giving it your all. Certificates will be provided as soon as they are finalized with our adult supervisors, and we thank you for your patience.
The November Debate will be held on November 29th and the 28th, from UTC 10:00-13:00.
For the November debate, jrO-MUN has decided to open up two debate rooms, for experienced and beginner delegates. The debate, along with the optional four week mentoring cycle, is completely free and held on Zoom.
Advisors can look for more information here or sign up here at our registration page.
Mentoring at jrO-MUN:
Delegates can choose to opt in to our mentoring program at any time. However, the official deadline for the entire four week experience is November 1st, 2024. The first mentoring session will be held on November 2nd from 9:00 -10:20 AM UTC. For information on our four week mentoring program, please visit our breakdown here. Mentors will help delegates by working with them live during our zoom mentoring session work times, as well as respond to their questions on the moderated padlet in case they are unable to attend.
Secretariat Applications Open
Secretariat Applications are once again open! MUNers wishing to take their experience to the next level can sign up here. The three main roles open are moderator, mentor, and Under-DSG, but all are fairly flexible.
Mentors focus more on helping delegates prepare for the conference, although this is something all jrO-MUN secretariat do. During the weeks leading up to the conference, they will help their assigned delegates during work sessions and answer questions. During the debate, they will act as live-help for any confused delegates.
Moderators are the facilitators of debate, taking turns chairing, doing tallies, or processing amendments and notes. This role will require some more MUN experience and familiarity with procedure.
Lastly, UDSGs will function as a counterpart to the already present DSGs. UDSGs will take a heavier part in the administration of jrO-MUN, with their exact job specifications depending on which UDSG role they choose.
Interested MUNers under the age of 18 can apply here directly, or head to our secretariat application page for more information.
