Google Slides: Update!

Google Slides UPDATE: Automated Closed Captions

With the new October 2018 update, you can now show automated closed captions in real-time when presenting in Google Slides. When used on a CHROMEBOOK, the chromebook's microphone detects your voice and transcribes your presentation as captions on the slide you're presenting.

  • Turn Captions On - In a Google Slides, click "Present" to start the presentation. Click on the "CC Captions" icon located on the hovering menu bar (or use shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + C). Captions will automatically be featured in English.
  • Improve Accessibility - This feature is beneficial for:
    • Individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
    • Non-native speakers / visual learners / students with disabilities who prefer written content
    • Noisy environments with poor audio quality
