Google Classroom: Communication with Guardians
Now that we've met our students' guardians, let's keep them in the loop! Invite guardians today by adding their emails and inviting them to Google Classroom. As guardians, they can receive email summaries showing their student’s progress in classroom.
- They can choose the frequency of the emails, such as daily or weekly.
- They can unsubscribe or remove themselves from Classroom at any time.
Guardian email summaries include:
- Missing work—Work that’s late at the time the email was sent
- Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or work that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails)
- Class activity—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers

Genesis Gradebook: Grade Translations
Grade values can be added or changed to meet the needs of your classes and assignments. To add/edit grade values, go to GRADEBOOK --> PROFILES --> Click on the "P" icon to open profile setup --> Grade Translations.
Setting Up Grade Values
- Click on the Gradebook --> Profiles tab
- Select a profile and click on the “P” (change settings) icon.
- Click on the Grade Values 3rd level tab
- Review all Grade Values
a. Alpha Grades – You may add and delete Alpha Grade values
b. “Checks” Grade Type
c. O-S-U Grade Type
d. Pass/Fail Grade Type (you might want to set “Pass” to 100).
e. Pre-Set Grade Type: Handed In/Not Handed In/Extra Credit
*There is a “Custom Grades” area at the bottom of your Grade Values screen where you can add custom grades and values to use in your gradebook.
