The creation of a year-round market in an urban setting that has the feeling of a country/farm store while also evoking a sense of community and nostalgia, that can change and adapt with the change of seasons and holidays.
The focus of this project is a market which would promote fresh produce and homemade goods, as well as a kitchen and classroom/workshop space where people can come for cooking classes or seasonal/holiday décor ideas. These spaces will be supported with a bistro/cafe, that will sell food and drink that relates to what is happening with the market.
European plaza meets country farmhouse. A bright space, using a neutral colour palette and mixing of textures.
The main floor supports the fresh produce retail spaces, as well as is home to small shops. Towards the back there is a bistro that will help to promote seasonal produce and introduce people to various different cooking classes that can be held on the second floor.
On the second floor there is space for more retail, this time focusing on kitchen equipment and fun and quirky home decor items. Similar to the main floor there are space for small shops, this time focusing on artisans. There are also three different classrooms on this level, two craft classrooms and a kitchen classroom.
