This is a safe space for marginalized artists to create art and share it with the public. It is intended to give a voice to various marginalized communities who will have the space and time to make art and share their stories. This allows said communities to gather and discuss world views, innovate new ideas, blossom creativity, and grow as individuals and collectives. As a result, it will enliven and expand the neighborhood’s community identity.
There is no correct way or method of making art but many agree that creating your best work requires plenty of time working alone, but not complete isolation from others. Oftentimes ideas and creativity are sparked through interactions with others. Psychologists who have examined the lives of the most creative people have found the majority of them to be solo operators, introverted extroverts who enjoy socializing but also have the self-discipline and urge to develop art on their own. Therefore, it was important to create a mix of public and private areas, with special attention payed to the studio spaces.
The primary activity within the space will be the creation and viewing of art. There is a public lounge, gallery, artist lounge, art studios, artist residencies, library, and meditation rooms. Incorporating flexible furniture, transformable walls, and other non-permanent solutions, the space allows the artist minds to begin their creative journeys, as well as accommodating varying degrees of privacy to suit the mood and/or event.
