Tuna Research Exploring Keynotes (TREK) Project

The Tuna Research Exploring Keynotes (TREK) Project is a 15-month, capacity-building research initiative that investigates the health, ecology, and environmental dynamics of neritic tuna species in Sarangani Bay through integrated biological and ecological studies, including reproductive assessments, diet analysis, and habitat condition evaluation. It was selected as the first recipient of the newly launched Undergraduate Research and Education Assistantship for Technology (uGREAT) Program, a 2024 DOST-funded initiative designed to support undergraduate involvement in science, technology, and research aligned with agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources priorities. The TREK project engages undergraduate researchers in hands-on investigation, generating critical data to inform sustainable fisheries management and tuna conservation strategies.

Nateura Project

The Nateura Project focuses on cosmetic product development utilizing bioactive compounds derived from functional foods, fruits, and vegetables. The project integrates research, formulation, and innovation to develop nature-inspired cosmetic products that emphasize safety, functionality, and sustainability. It serves as a platform for product-based research and skills development while promoting the value of natural resources in science-driven cosmetic innovation.

Tuna Research Program

The Tuna Research Program focuses on the biological and molecular characterization of key neritic and oceanic tuna species. It integrates reproductive biology, metabarcoding, and metagenomic analyses to generate scientific data on reproduction, genetics, and dietary composition, supporting sustainable fisheries management and conservation of tuna resources in Philippine waters.
