Medtrics (msucom.medtricslab.com) is a medical education platform that MSUCOM uses for all four years of the DO curriculum. It is used for curriculum scheduling, evaluations, and documentation. It is also used in clerkship for scheduling clinical rotations.
The video to the left provides a brief tour of Medtrics and what you will use it for in the preclerkship curriculum.
From the Medtrics home page, click the orange button labeled "Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine."
Do not use the External Login option.
If prompted for credentials, sign in with your MSU Net ID and password.
You can view your assigned events on Medtrics under the "Calendar" tab.
You can also sync your assigned events with a personal calendar - click the "Sync With My Calendar" button on the Calendar tab to see instructions for subscribing to your Medtrics schedule using your preferred calendar tool.
The video to the right goes through how to use the Medtrics calendar and how to subscribe to an .ics feed. Additional information on how to subscribe to web calendars can be found here:
Events on the Medtrics Calendar are color-coded to indicate different types of events and help students identify which will require on-site participation versus remote work.
Below describes what colors on the Medtrics calendar mean. Please note, if you are viewing the Medtrics .ics feed from your preferred calendaring tool, the color coding will not appear; the event type will be in the description field.
Some sessions take place live at scheduled times. This includes the following categories:
BLUE - In-Person Live (Labs, OPC events, & other events requiring in-person attendance that will not be live-streamed or recorded. Watch for live in-person events that have attendance requirements.)
GREEN - Flexible Live (Events that can be attended either in person or remote via Zoom.)
YELLOW - Online Live (Events held online at a specific time with no in-person option. Watch for live online events that have attendance requirements.)
RED - Assessments (Quizzes, written exams, practical exams, & exam review events.)
Other content is considered asynchronous content to be completed outside class. This means there may be some flexibility as to when the work is completed. It is presented on the calendar to maintain the recommended sequence of instruction and help students budget their time.
PINK - Independent (Online content & activities that can be completed on one’s own schedule such as reading, online modules, recordings, etc.)
You can use different search elements in the Medtrics Calendar to highlight a specific course or user schedule. Additionally, you can use the .ics feeds below to subscribe to a class-specific calendar.
See the video to the right to see an explanation of how to toggle different course calendars, how to view a specific cohort's calendar, and how to subscribe to an .ics feed.
Please note, the .ics feeds below display ALL curricular events - see above to view and subscribe to your personal schedule.
Copy and paste (DO NOT DOWNLOAD) an .ics URL into your preferred calendaring tool. See this video for additional instructions.
