Getting started with D2L
Most MSUCOM courses utilize D2L (aka Brightspace) to deliver curriculum material and communications.
If you have never used D2L before, MSU IT provides a short training course. Enroll in it by signing in to D2L, and then from the My Courses page:
Click “Self Registration” from the navigation bar at the top of the page
Click the link for “202# Students - Getting Started with D2L."
On the page that follows, click Register and follow the prompts.
Once registered, the training course will show up in your D2L list of available courses.

If you're expecting to see a course in your course list but aren't seeing it, you can use the built-in search tools to help you look! Watch the video to the right to see how to use the search tools and know what search terms to use, then how to pin your course so it's easier to find next time!
D2L notifications and emails
D2L notifications and emails
You can configure your D2L notifications to keep you aware of any course updates, new content additions, announcements, etc.
There is a D2L email address available for each student that can be checked from within D2L. MSUCOM recommends that students forward messages from their D2L email account to their preferred email address.
Brightspace Pulse is an app that allows you to view your D2L courses and receive instant notifications as updates occur. Note that content in the Pulse app can appear different vs. how it formats on the D2L website.

MSUCOM courses in D2L don't stay open indefinitely, and once they're closed you can't access the course materials from the course.
You can download individual files, full modules, or the entire course by clicking the drop down arrow next to the title of a content section and selecting "Download." The video to the left demonstrates this process.
You can also download individual files in alternate formats such as .pdf or .epub by clicking the Ally icon next to the file (see below for additional info re: accessibility).

MSUCOM supports diverse study needs. Most lectures are recorded and provided to students via MediaSpace, allowing for self-paced review with interactive, searchable transcripts.
Faculty also facilitate note-taking by providing learning materials such as notes, slides, and handouts in advance of a learning event. Students can typically download these files in their originally provided format or in an alternate preferred format by clicking the Ally icon next to the file.
