Master's Project for the MA in Foreign Language Teaching
The main feature of my project is implementing computer-assisted language learning (CALL) into English reading comprehension, particularly aimed for TOELF Junior reading comprehension portion of the exam; the two tools used are AntConc, a corpus analysis tool, and eMargin, a digital annotation tool. The tools are free and easy for users to download and navigate, allowing even for younger learners to quickly become familiar with using these tools for learning (also being provided with tutorials and manuals).
Reading strategy training and test-taking practice are typically taught using traditional methods of teaching, often with lack of new technological tools nor opportunities for collaborative work with peers. Thus, my EM aims to implement AntConc and eMargin into learning and to promote what traditional test preparation classrooms often lack.
