Below is a portfolio assessment tool I created for students to track their own language growth and goals using 3 parts: the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, the language task completion sheets, and the Skill Cover sheet that provides a visual representation of proficiency evidence at each level. My goal is provide students with a tangible way to see their language growth over the course of the year and collect evidence at each proficiency benchmark.
Students will use this as the first page in their language portfolios in order to quickly reference level descriptions for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Since discovering this chart on Tpt, my students have enjoyed tracking their own progress and setting language goals. Available for purchase on Teachers Pay Teachers
Students complete this form after each language task/assessment teachers would like them to place in their language portfolio. It includes space for a description of the language task and the level of the task. It also includes a space for students to reflect on how well they were able to complete the task and consider what areas they would like to improve.
After completing a language task/assessment sheet in class, students will fill in a bar of the pyramid corresponding to the level of the task. At the end of the year, students should see many of the bars filled in at increasingly higher levels of proficiency. It is also a way for teachers to easily track how many times and at what proficiency level they have assessed each skill.
