MAFLT Portfolio | Spring 2022
WELCOME TO MY PORTFOLIO!
Welcome! ¡Bienvenidos a todos!
My name is Edward Stanko and I am currently a Spanish teacher and World Language Department Chair at Patrick Henry High School in San Diego, CA--America's Finest City!
This portfolio is the culmination of my time in the MAFLT program at Michigan State University. I have had the opportunity to learn more about second language acquisition, intercultural competence, design and carry-out research, as well as conduct a mock program review on my own department.
My technology skills have also expanded to include transcription with Otter.ai and coding with Atlas.ti; I was able to discover and focus my interest for future studies in qualitative research; in particular, ethnography.
My goal in completing this program was to improve my language teaching skills, but I found so much more! Thanks to my professors and classmates in the program, I have been able to partake in a community of practice that has forever shaped how I teach second language.
As a teacher, my learning is never complete. The MAFLT program has given me the tools to be wise-consumer of research, as well as turning theory into application in the classroom.
