A primary challenge of my current practice as a middle school ESL is quickly and effectively determining which English learners will need interventions and support provided throughout the year. I considered this challenge while taking an Assessment for Foreign Language Teaching course during the summer of 2017, and as a result I developed the language assessment that is described and included in the document below. I later used portions of this assessment in the fall of 2017 as a diagnostic assessment for the English learners with whom I work in my current teaching position.
