I have studied and spoken Spanish for over ten years. That study has included university courses, study abroad, small group or one-on-one classes in Peru and Ecuador, and immersive practice while living in Ecuador for four years. In my work as an ESL teacher in Austin, Texas, I use Spanish with Spanish-speaking students when it is necessary and appropriate, and I also frequently interpret for Spanish-speaking parents when they visit our school for meetings. I am in the process of taking the Bilingual Target Language Proficiency Test for Spanish in the state of Texas. In 2014, I earned my Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera at the C1 Level (Effective Operational Proficiency), a copy of which is included below.
