(10-12) - Credit: 1.0
Prerequisite: Sophomores taking AP Econ should be concurrently enrolled in Honors Algebra 2
Advanced Placement Economics lets students experience the equivalent of two semesters of college economics and provides the unique opportunity to prepare students to take two corresponding AP exams for which they can earn multiple college credit hours (typically between 3-8 per exam, depending on scores). Students will explore microeconomic theory as it relates to individual decision-making with an emphasis on business and markets. They will also gain an understanding of the macroeconomic theories and principles that underpin current economic situations both in the U.S. and around the world. Note: this course meets the Consumer Education requirement for graduation.
