This Parkland dual credit course focuses on essay writing with emphasis on process, purpose, audience awareness, critical analysis, focus organization, development, clarity, coherence, and engagement of outside texts. ENG 101 fulfills part of the general education communication requirement for public four-year institutions in Illinois. Students are responsible for dual credit costs and textbooks when required. Students must be accepted by Parkland for the course.

This Parkland dual credit course builds upon the repertoire of strategies for writing learned in ENG 101. ENG 102 focuses on persuasive and researched academic writing helping students develop critical thinking and writing skills as they learn to synthesize their own perspectives with those of other writers. ENG 102 fulfills part of the general education communication requirement for public four-year institutions in Illinois. Students are responsible for dual credit costs and textbooks when required.
