(11-12) - Credit: 0.5
Prerequisite: Completion of English 3 or a ‘B’ or higher in both semesters of English 2.
This course is focused on developing students’ identities and skills as writers of fiction, poetry, and other creative forms. Potential written products include short stories, poems, screenplays, and a student choice project. Integral to the course is the idea of a “writing community,” as students support each other through frequent sharing, collaboration, and peer review. Course expectations include daily in-class writing, sharing written work in both draft and ‘finished’ forms, engaging thoughtfully with diverse mentor texts, and more. Students should also expect independent and collaborative work outside of class.
