Leadership Opportunities

The Orchestra Congress

• Meets together at least 2 times a year.

• elected by peers to represent their class.

• Responsible for assisting Dr. Zeleski in the following activities;

  • Planning and running social events.

  • Helping select music.

  • Acting as a focus group for mid year policy changes.

  • Providing Dr. Zeleski with the class participants' perspective on things.

  • Bring up issues within the class that Dr. Zeleski may not be aware of so we can all have a good experience together.

Class Leadership

1. Section Leader

   1. Responsible for keeping the section on task, practicing, and improving during sectionals.

2. Warmup Leader (When possible)

   1. They will start the group after the 5-minute warmup time is over on their group warmups, so Dr. Zeleski can observe, assist, and educate students on techniques on an individual level. 

Instrument Mentor (New for 2026)

1. Must be a competent musician on their instrument.

2. If possible, a student from the class (or another class) will be assigned to meet with them from time to time to work on music.

3. They may also be called upon by section leaders (if not already one) to help the section with technical skills, fingerings, and bowings.
