Concert Attendance Policy
The Millard West Orchestra is a performance-based class. It is important that each member commit to concerts. Our Orchestra students rely on one another to succeed at performances. Orchestra is not a spectator sport; there isn’t a bench, and everyone plays a vital part. No one person is replaceable, and so no additional assignment replaces or compensates for a concert.
Students may be excused for religious, health, or family emergencies if Dr. Zeleski is notified in writing before the event. Family trips are not excused absences.
Orchestra Attire
Orchestra students have formal attire consisting of concert black styling.
Ladies - All black ankle-length dress (provided) with black dress socks or nylons, and black close-toed dress shoes. No leggings, jeans, yoga pants, or sneakers.
Gentlemen - Black dress pants (provided), black socks, and black dress shoes with a black button-down, long sleeve dress shirt. The pants, tie, and vest will be provided before their performance.
The formal attire should only be worn for Millard West Orchestra performances.
Informal Uniforms
We may also utilize different uniforms depending on the concert. It is the responsibility of the student to make sure that they are dressed appropriately for that performance.
If you have problems or concerns about the uniform, please contact Mr. Zeleski directly, and we will work to resolve them together.
Returning Orchestra Uniforms
All dresses, vests, and pants should be professionally cleaned before their return at the end of the school year. A receipt must be provided as proof of cleaning.
