The IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme

at Millard North High School

In March 2007, Millard North High School became an authorized International Baccalaureate – Middle Years Programme School. The IB-MYP is designed for ALL students in grades 6-10. IB-MYP students receive the same Millard Public Schools curriculum as non-MYP students. Teachers deliver the curriculum within the IB-MYP framework, which focuses on concepts, inquiry, and global contexts.  The IB-MYP is designed to help students become globally-minded, independent learners who can recognize relationships and connections among the various facets of their world.

The IB-MYP in Millard Public Schools starts at Millard North Middle School, where all students are IB-MYP students. At Millard North High School, all 9th and 10th grade students, whether or not they attended MNMS, may join the IB-MYP Program. Though it is highly recommended that students planning to participate in the IB Diploma Program during their junior and senior years participate in IB-MYP, it is not mandatory.
