All first and second shift custodial staff will continue to be scheduled during the school day, which will allow for continuous cleaning throughout the day.
A cleaning schedule will be created for each building and a cleaning log will be maintained by custodians.
Hard surfaces will be cleaned twice daily during school hours as per the State guidance. Buildings will be cleaned after they are vacated.
Teachers and staff will assist with cleaning in order to properly clean all surfaces/items and maintain a clean environment.
Hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, disinfectant spray, paper towels, extra masks and gloves have been purchased. These items will be available in all classrooms and critical areas of the schools.
Outside cleaning items should not be brought in by anyone.
We will discourage the sharing of materials. When materials are required to be shared they will be cleaned thoroughly.
All building systems will operate at maximum filtration levels. Building systems will be inspected and have air filters changed regularly.
The term “Green Cleaning” is similar to a marketing term, though it was adopted by the department of health to define and promote a group of chemicals that do not have proven asthma triggers including Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s, previously used to keep products in the liquid state until applied) Bleach, and Quaternary Ammonias. From a cleaning and sanitizing perspective, stabilized peroxides have replaced most Quaternary Ammonias as they are equally as effective. Overall, it is important to note that all the chemical products we use have been approved by the Middletown Health Department. Furthermore, there has been no change in the products we use, to disinfect for Covid 19 because they have been determined to be effective at killing the virus.
