From the Health Office:
I am excited to share updates with you regularly about how we are working to achieve our Vision
Falcon Hill...where the whole child succeeds!
During Q1 teachers embarked on their own learning journey to strengthen how we teach students to read. Here is a list of the programs that teachers spent Q1 being trained on. We began full implementation in Q2. I am excited to share with you highlights of this journey:
K-3 Fundations - Phonics supplemental curriculum (core instruction)
Special Education - SPIRE a multisensory approach to teaching students who need Tier 2 and3 reading
K-6 Thinking Maps
K- 6 Readers Workshop
As explained in the article linked below we have a national crisis. I am personally so proud of the work our teachers have done learning and understanding the science of reading to ensure our Firebirds get the absolute best quality of reading instruction! I invite you to read the article and come to our next SIAC meeting to share thoughts and ideas you have on how to meet this reality in our school community.
