A short-term training program prepares you for a specific job. You’ll typically complete some classroom instruction and training to learn a specific skill which will prepare you to work.
If the idea of going to school full time or for a long time doesn’t sound right for you right now but you want to learn to do something that will make you highly employable, a short-term training program may be a good fit for you. These programs are a way to gain a specific skill in a short amount of time, enter the workforce and start earning money. You may want to go back to school later using the skills you’ve learned and money you’ve earned.
Avivo offers industry-specific career education and technical training programs in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and St. Cloud. Graduates will earn industry credentials, and course lengths range from three weeks to three or more months, depending on the program. Courses include:
IT Support Training Program (27 weeks)
Medical Office Support Training Program (17 weeks)
Office Support Specialist Training Program (10 weeks)
Printer Preparation Training Program (4 weeks)
The Career Pathways program at CAPI USA helps unemployed and underemployed refugees and immigrants find employment through credentialed training, paired with individualized career planning, work readiness, job search, placement, and retention services. Courses include:
CNA Training: In partnership with Sholom Home, CAPI offers FREE CNA training to earn a certified nursing assistant license and begin a career in healthcare. This course reoccurs every several months.
Hand Soldering: In partnership with Century College and Minneapolis Adult Education, CAPI offers a 120-hour hand soldering skills course. Upon successful completion, participants will graduate with the industry recognized IPC-A and IPC-J-STD certifications.
CLUES Career Training workshops are perfect for anyone looking to get certified or advance their career, whether starting out in a new industry or moving up at a current job. Participants in these free, eight- to nine-week trainings learn soft skills to prepare them to be successful in the workplace along with direct, hands-on training in high-demand industries. Programs include:
Certified Nursing Assistant (8 weeks)
IT Help Desk - CompTIA A+ certification (9 weeks)
Banking (8 weeks)
Customer Service / Office Administration (8 weeks)
Construction - Eligibility for union jobs (9 weeks)
EMERGE Career Training Services prepares participants by providing the tools to develop hard and soft skills, reach career goals and obtain proper certifications and licenses. Career training coaches are available to assist every step of the way. Short-term training programs include:
Healthcare Career Pathways: EMERGE will assist participants in preparing for and completing healthcare industry credential programs as well as obtaining a job in the industry. Credentials include English for Industry, Nursing Assistant, Nursing Assistant Refresher, and Basic Life Support.

Goodwill Easter Seals help individuals gain skills, attitudes and work behaviors needed to assist them in finding and keeping employment. Courses Include:

Hired helps prepare low-income jobseekers for in-demand positions offering career-laddering opportunities. Their pathways programs include free training, credentials, job coaching and job placement opportunities. Training Opportunities include:

These programs have been created in partnership with employers to customize your learning for the workplace. These sessions include empowerment training, 1:1 coaching for a minimum of 2 years and specific sector training. Programs include:
Facilities & Maintenance: Additional training achievements can include; OSHA 10 OR OSHA 30, general safety practices, intro to skilled trades, and a boilers license.
Customer Service and Call Centers: Includes hybrid call center technology and software, specific customer engagement skills, and dedicated curriculum that is only used in call center work.
Advanced Manufacturing: Additional training achievements can include; OSHA 10 OR OSHA 30, general safety practices, machining, workplace math, blueprints/schematics, and more.
