Test reflection: This math test was about solving different forms of inequalities and algebraic equations. I got 82% or a meets on this test. A goal that I can set for myself for the future to be successful in math class is to work hard on a problem and verify if it is correct.
In my first i-ready math this year, my overall score was 540, or early 8th. This means that I tested into the 89th percentile. The category that I got the highest in was Algebra and Algebraic thinking. In this category, I tested mid 8th. By the end of the year i-Ready math test, I want to score in the late 8th to early 9th grade level. I will do this by working to improve in all of the categories..
This math test was about different types of functions, (linear or exponential) graphing of functions, and finding inputs and outputs of a function. In this test, I got a meets+. I got this grade because I got all of the problems in the developing and approaching section, and I got a few questions in the meets and exceeds sections wrong. I struggled with growth and decay on graphs and tables the most. This was because I missed the days that we learned about that. The easiest part of the quiz was figuring out if something was a linear or exponential function. For the next test, I will work to understand all of the content to push towards the exceeds.
On this test, I got 95%, which is also and exceeds. I got this grade because I got a lot of the questions correct, I did the test corrections. My goal for the math 2 final is to fully understand how to correctly do all of the problems. Something that I will do the same for the math 2 final is to work hard during the unit to understand everything.
In general how did you prepare for this quadratics test? What helped lead to your success/struggles on this test?
What percent did you get on your Delta math for the week leading up to the test?
Did you complete the practice test in its entirety?
Looking back at the week leading up to the final, how would you describe your level of focus and engagement during class time? (2-3 complete sentences)
Considering your goals for next year, how will you handle the next "hard" math unit to ensure you feel confident on test day? (2-3 complete sentences)
What advice would you give a student taking this class next year in preparation for this quadratics unit/test? (2-3 complete sentences)
Does your grade on this final accurately reflect your understanding of the material, or does it reflect your level of preparation? (2-3 complete sentences)
As we move through the rest of math 2 this year, what is one study habit you would like to keep and one study habit you would like to toss? Explain your answer. (2-3 complete sentences)
I keep trying to say “I’m not trying to teach you math, I’m trying to teach you how to learn.” Reflect back on my lessons and my teaching throughout this unit. What is a lesson that helps you help yourself and truly learn? What was a lesson that didn’t contribute to your learning? (2-3 complete sentences)
This test was about shapes, volume and geometry, such as the mid-segment theorem finding angles and variables. On this test, I got 39/42 points, or an exceeds because I understood the topic very well and showed it on the test. I think that my notes helped me a lot by showing me the formulas to equations, but next time I think that I would show my work more and gone over my work after I was done to make sure that I didn't make any mistakes. I completed the Delta math Geometry after the test. I think that if I did it before, then I would have been more prepared. To make sure that I get those problems correct on the math 2 final, I will go over the ones that I got wrong and make sure that I will get them right next time.
