We are working on a project about geology including rock layers in our region
In the rock cycle lab we simulated the rock cycle with starbursts. First we cut them up with scissors to show sediment. Then we mushed them together into a ball to represent sedimentary rock. After that we put it in a plastic bag and put the bag in hot water and let it cool to represent igneous rock. Then we put the igneous starburst in parchment paper and melted them with an iron. In this lab I learned what the rock cycle existed, so since I didn't know what it was I learned a lot.
One example of my work in science is the plate tectonics lab. In the Plate tectonic lab we simulated the types of plate tectonic movement with graham crackers, rice krispies, and frosting. We used the frosting to represent the mantle, and the graham crackers represented the plate tectonics. We simulated plate convergent, divergent, and transform plate boundaries. I learned that
Some obstacles that my group came across during this exhibition were trying to figure out what my action plan was and then what I was going to put on my slideshow. I overcame that challenge when I realized that one of my other classmates had a similar action plan, and was researching the same environmental problem: deforestation. Then me and him became partners, which made it a whole lot easier. Some of the strengths that we had together were that we could multitask, where he made the sign for our lemonade stand while I worked on the slideshow and the script. Some things that I learned about collaboration and teamwork is that I rely a lot on having a group, because without one I am basically just clueless on what to do and I won’t get much work done.
