How Mistakes Grow Your Brain:

1.) What is the “myth” of the math brain or math person based on the video and article?

-The myth is that there are "math people" and "non math people" and people are just born that way, but thats not true. Studies show that on SATS its not two lines showing "math people" and "not math people" but a data plot showing mixed amount of scores over many people.

2.) Why are mistakes important in math class? Use examples from the One Cut activity to support your claim.

-Mistakes are important because they help us learn and grow. For example in our One Cut activity at first you couldnt figure out how to just do one cut but after lots of trial or error you can get it.

3.) How do you feel about math right now, based on your previous experiences?

-I feel really good about math so far. Ive actully been having a lot of fun so far in math! I feel like my past teachers have really helped perpared me for 8th grade math and im ready to take it on.

4.) What are some specific, actionable steps you can take to improve your math mindset this year?

Some specific actionable steps I need to do this year follows as this: First, a quiet classroom, with no talking and if possible lights off. Finally, a table with none of my friends so i dont get off track and talk.

Geometry Quiz #1

This Geometry Quiz was a review of what we learned last year. It covered rigid transformations and congruence. And on this quiz I got a 4/5 which qualafied for a meets (which was the highest grade) and I got this as I answered a question on congruance wrong. Finally my goal for the next quiz is to get all the questions right.

My overall grade level and score was a 513. This got me a 7th grade level overall even though I got early 8th on two and 7th grade on two.

For my national norm I scored in the 71st percentile.

Set a goal for math this year.

By the end of the year i-Ready test, I want to score in the 8th grade or Early 9th grade level. I will do this by getting good grades on tests and trying my best on my I ready.
